Blue Heaven: Our Slice of Paradise in Key West

Blue Heaven: Our Slice of Paradise in Key West

Key West holds a special place in our hearts. It’s where we celebrated our honeymoon, and amidst all the charming streets and vibrant sunsets, one particular spot etched itself into our memories: Blue Heaven. Located in the historic Bahama Village, this iconic eatery isn’t just a restaurant; it’s an experience, and one we loved so much, we visited twice during that unforgettable first trip!

From the moment you approach, you know you’re in for something unique. We quickly learned that a wait is almost always guaranteed, especially for breakfast. But Blue Heaven has even turned the waiting into part of the charm. There’s a fantastic little drink shack tucked away to help pass the time. It’s the perfect prelude to the laid-back atmosphere inside.

Stepping into Blue Heaven is like entering a whimsical, shaded oasis. The entire dining area is outdoors, beneath a canopy of lush trees, providing a wonderful respite from the Florida sun. Chickens roam freely, pecking at the ground adding to the incredibly eclectic and relaxed vibe. It truly feels like a hidden gem, a world away from the bustling streets.

And the food? We were on a mission for the perfect Key West breakfast, and we found it in their omelets. Being in the Keys, I couldn’t resist trying one of their seafood options. I opted for the lobster and cheese omelet, and it was absolute perfection. The omelet was fluffy and light, generously stuffed with huge, tender chunks of fresh lobster and melted cheese. Each bite was a decadent taste of the island. My wife got a beautifully crafted ham and cheese omelet that was packed with fresh ingredients, but I have to say, my lobster omelet was the star of the show.

Beyond the unique ambiance and incredible food, the service was consistently excellent. Despite being incredibly busy, the staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. They added to the warm, inviting atmosphere that makes Blue Heaven so special.

Our first visit was so enchanting that we knew we had to return before our honeymoon ended. It wasn’t just about the meal; it was about soaking in the unique Key West spirit that Blue Heaven embodies. Sitting there, surrounded by history, greenery, and the gentle clucking of chickens, savoring a world-class omelet with my new wife – those are the moments you cherish forever.

If you ever find yourself in Key West, do yourself a favor and make a pilgrimage to Blue Heaven. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an unforgettable taste of island life, eccentricity, and pure culinary joy. We can’t wait for our next visit!
